We had a church family day at Great Oak Camp, and it turned out to be such a fun experience. The weather was perfect for what we call Illinois’ “first false fall.” The temperatures were starting to drop, and a light breeze carried through the air. On land, it felt crisp and refreshing—but once you got into the water, it was a completely different story. It was freezing! (Trust me, this detail is very important.) My parents couldn’t make it since they were taking care of my grandparents, which probably explains why I ended up freezing, soaking wet, and completely chaotic.
